Due to scrutiny by parties I cannot discuss, I won't be writing (publicly) about Zachary and my grief for a while.  I do not know how long it will be until I return.

Love to everyone who has been here to read, relate and comfort me since Zachary died, and gentle hugs to every bereaved parent I know.

  1. Gretchen,

Please know that your writing has helped me greatly. After my daughter's death, your blog was one of the first I found to try to make sense of the pain. Butterflies and rainbows made me sick. In your ability to share your deep grief and the sometimes dark and ugly sides of it you have helped me to feel less alone. You are one of the few writers who I feel is brutally honest with what their grief is like and for this I thank you.

You write beautifully and I hope you can continue to write in whatever manner is best for you. You have honored all your children here. I understand you must stop now and perhaps always.

What you and your family have suffered is unthinkable. I will always think of you, B.W. And Zachary. I will always be grateful for your writing and what you have shared. I wish you peace.

    Best, Kim

  2. I am so sorry that sharing your heart has resulted in scrutiny. I will continue to pray and hold space for you.

  3. Gretchen,
I echo Kim's sentiments : what you have been through (and go through, still) and the way you write about it made me feel a deep connection to you and your family.

I will be keeping you and your boys in my thoughts, and will always especially think of Zachary, along with Paul, when January comes around.

    Much love,

  4. I miss your writing and I'm thinking about your whole family.
